"But no one sings of the Stranger," the Stranger's face was the face of Death

The Stranger is one of the seven aspects of a single deity. Believers of the Faith of the Seven consider that God is one with seven aspects, as the sept is a single building, with seven walls.

The Stranger is viewed in a negative light, with worshipers rarely praying to him. It is neither male nor female, yet both, ever the outcast, the wanderer from far places, less and more than human, unknown and unknowable.

No one sings for the Stranger, even "The song of the Seven" only contained the other six aspects; since the Stranger's face is the face of death.

Books[]

A Clash of Kings[]

Catelyn Stark at a nameless village[]

She inters a modest Sept, a single building that has no statues of the Seven, only rough charcoal drawings to represent them. The stranger's face is a black oval, a shadow with stars for eyes. That somehow made Catelyn uneasy.

Sansa Stark at Maegor's holdfast[]

On the eve of the Battle of the Blackwater, Sansa observes few candles lit beneath the Stranger's half human face. She prays for each of the Seven in turn, lighting a candle in each Altar.

A Storm of Swords[]

Samwell Tarly and Gilly at a Wildling village[]

Samwell sang "The song of the Seven" for Gilly's son to sleep. When she asked him why the song only contains six Gods when there are seven, he told her that no one sings for the Stranger; the Stranger's face was the face of death.

Quotes[]

I thought I was the Warrior and Cersei was the Maid, but all the time she was the Stranger, hiding her true face from my gaze.
