Lady Taena Merryweather is the wife of Lord Orton Merryweather and a companion to the lady Margaery Tyrell. She and her husband have one child, named Russell Merryweather. She originated from Myr, and is sometimes referred to as Taena of Myr.
Taena is described as beautiful, graceful and lusty, with smooth olive skin, huge dark eyes, ripe lips, full breasts, long legs, and black hair that always seems to look as if she has just gotten up from bed. She has an exotic smell, and swings her hips when she walks.
Taena accompanies her husband and the Tyrell host to King's Landing for the betrothal of Margaery to King Joffrey Baratheon. They both attend the wedding ceremony of Sansa Stark and Tyrion Lannister, where Taena dances with several other lords and ladies, noted to dance so seductively and provocatively that she steals the attention of several lords. Taena later attends the wedding of Margaery and Joffrey, and witnesses the king's sudden death by poison. Because of her presence, she is called to testify against Tyrion, who has been suspected of poisoning Joffrey's wine. Taena confirms this by stating that she saw the imp drop an unknown substance into the chalice.
Taena is present at the funeral of Lord Tywin Lannister, attracting the approval of Queen regent Cersei Lannister with promises to send word to her "friends" in the free cities to apprehend Tyrion. Cersei suggests that the two of them shall be great friends. During the wedding of Margaery and Tommen, Taena urges Cersei to lighten her mood, and confides in the queen that one of Margaery's maids, Senelle, is spying on her. After the wedding, Taena begins to spend more time with the Queen, their relationship tinged with sexual attraction on Cersei's part. The Myrish lady eventually begins to share her bed, becoming one of the queen's top confidants. After Cersei is imprisoned by the faith, Taena and her husband flee King's Landing and head towards Longtable.
