Spotted Pate is a legendary hero to the smallfolk of Westeros. The Citadel novice Pate is named after him.

Pate is a member of the smallfolk and is usually a pig boy. He is described as good-hearted, well meaning and empty headed, though he always wins. usually he is put against lords, knights or overproud septons. The story always ends well for Pate, who might get to sit on a noble lord's seat, or bed the daughter of a knight.
