A Song of Ice and Fire Wiki

Sigorn is the son of Styr, the Magnar of Thenn.

Appearance and Character[]

Sigorn is said to resemble his father, albeit younger and shorter. He is lean, with grey eyes and a receding hairline that makes him look older than he is. Like the rest of his people, Sigorn takes great pride in being a Thenn. He speaks the common tongue haltingly, with a heavy accent.

Books[]

A Feast for Crows[]

After the death of his father in the attack on Castle Black, Styr inherits the title of Magnar of Thenn.

A Dance with Dragons[]

Sigorn bends the knee before Stannis Baratheon after passing beneath the Wall. It is rumoured at Castle Black that Stannis intends to give lands and titles to Sigorn and Rattleshirt. Sigorn is reluctant to align with the Night's Watch after the death of his father. Iron Emmett advises that Jon grant a castle to the new Magnar of Thenn.

Jon eventually devises a plan to marry Sigorn to Alys Karstark, the heir to Karhold. Alys has fled to Castle Black, after her great-uncle, Arnolf Karstark, arranged a match between her and his son, Cregan, to try and take control of Karhold. Alys believes that Karhold would surrender to her, Sigorn, and his two hundred Thenn warriors.

During the wedding, which is performed at Castle Black by Melisandre, Sigorn leaps across a burning ditch with his bride. Sigorn is initially reluctant to dance at the wedding, but joins Alys after growing drunk on mulled wine. Jon notes that Sigorn is surprisingly tender with his new wife.
