A sot, a fool, and a craven. Lord Walder had best outlive this one, or the Freys are done.
— Jaime Lannister

Ser Ryman Frey is the eldest son of Ser Stevron Frey, making him second in line to the Lordship of the Crossing. He is a knight of House Frey. He is hanged by the Brotherhood without Banners near Fairmarket after being dismissed by Ser Jaime Lannister at the Siege of Riverrun.

Books[]

A Clash of Kings[]

Ryman becomes the heir to the Twins after his father - Stevron Frey - dies at the Battle of Oxcross. He accompanies Robb Stark on his campaign in The Westerlands, and Ser Edmure Tully uses him as an example to prove the Frey's loyalty when it is questioned by Catelyn Stark.

A Storm of Swords[]

Ryman welcomes Robb Stark and his entourage to the wedding of Edmure and Roslin Frey. He is involved in the Red Wedding, leading the Frey soldiers into the hall. He kills Dacey Mormont. It is later said by Merret Frey that Ryman was heavily involved in the planning of the Red Wedding.

A Feast for Crows[]

Ryman is sent south with the Frey contingent to assist Ser Daven Lannister at the Siege of Riverrun. He is of little use, however, as he is near constantly drunk. Upon the arrival of Jaime Lannister he is dismissed and takes a small contingent to return to the Twins, with his son Edwyn Frey left in charge. His group is attacked at Fairmarket and the entire group is hanged. Edwyn accuses Jaime of having his father's blood on his hands.
