Lord Quellon Greyjoy was the Lord of the Iron Islands, Lord Reaper of Pyke, and head of House Greyjoy prior to Robert's Rebellion. He is the father of Balon Greyjoy, and the grandfather of Asha and Theon Greyjoy.

Appearance and Character[]

Quellon has been considered one of the wisest of the Greyjoys. He stood six and a half feet tall, and was both strong and fast.

History[]

Quellon fought corsairs and slavers in the Summer Sea during his youth. He commanded one hundred longships during the War of the Ninepenny Kings. Quellon once sacked Faircastle during the rule of Lord Tytos Lannister over the Westerlands.

Quellon tried to reform the ways of the Ironborn, and reintegrate them with the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. He freed thralls, forbade most reaving, discouraged salt wives and encouraged marriages with mainland houses.

Quellon's health was failing during Robert's Rebellion, however, and it was only after the Battle of the Trident that he brought House Greyjoy into the war against the Targaryens. He led fifty longships against the Reach, leaving most of his ships to protect himself against House Lannister.

Quellon died during his attack on the Reach, being killed during the Battle at the Mander. His eldest surviving son, Balon, succeeded him and rejected most of his reforms. The Ironborn contribution to the war proved to be minimal.
