Pyke is one of the islands that make up the archipelago known as the Iron Islands. Smallfolk claim that the Greyjoy castle of Pyke was named after the island.
Location[]
Pyke is located east of Saltcliffe, southeast of Great Wyk, and southwest of Harlaw. It is a days sail away from Harlaw.
Houses[]
Pyke is home to House Greyjoy, whose Lord is known as the Lord Reaper of Pyke, who rule from the castle of Pyke. Accounts differ on whether the castle was named for the island, or vice versa. Near the castle is the port town of Lordsport, which is the seat of House Botley. On the northern coast of the island is the town of Iron Holt, which is the seat of House Wynch.
History[]
The ancient castle of Pyke used to be located on the mainland of the island, but now stands on stone stacks, as segments of land have fallen into the sea.
Pretenders rose on the islands of Pyke, Great Wyk, Old Wyk, Orkmont, and Harlaw after the death of King Harren Hoare during the War of Conquest. House Greyjoy of Pyke ultimately became the new Lord of the Iron Islands after submitting to King Aegon I Targaryen.
After the death of the infamous Dalton Greyjoy wars were fought on Pyke by rival Ironborn claimiants and vengeful Westermen.
During the Greyjoy Rebellion, King Robert Baratheon personally led the assault on Pyke, destroying Lordsport and besieging Pyke.
