The Northmen are the people from the North in Westeros.

They are closely descended from the First Men and are described as tough, hard-lived and rugged. They worship the Old Gods and generally have disdainful feelings toward the south. Many of them are loyal to House Stark. Few Northmen chose to become knights because they do not believe in the Faith of the Seven, and the most common way to become a knight is to stand vigil through the night in a sept.
