Mors Martell was Lord of Sunspear and the first ruling prince of Dorne.
When Nymeria, warrior queen of the Rhoyne, landed in Dorne with her ten thousand ships, she chose to wed Martell. Together, they defeated all of Mors' rivals and established House Martell's primacy. Due to the Rhoynar influence, Dornish rulers styled and continue to style themselves "prince" rather than "king". All current generations of House Martell are descendants of Mors and Nymeria.
