A Game of Thrones[]
Mordane supervises a needlework session attended by Sansa, Arya, Jeyne Poole, Beth Cassel and the Princess Myrcella Baratheon. She coos over the Princess but gets annoyed at Arya for talking and her poor needlework. She waits for Arya in her chambers with Catelyn Stark after the girl runs away.
Mordane travels south with the Stark girls when Eddard Stark goes to King's Landing. She disapproves of Sansa feeding Lady at the table. During a large dinner in the Small Hall, attended by the retinue of House Stark, Septa Mordane has a confrontation with Arya, leading to her shouting at the young girl from outside her chambers. Arya's father, Eddard Stark, assures her that Septa Mordane is a good woman, and is not her enemy.
Mordane sits with Sansa and Jeyne during the Hand's Tourney, but after Jeyne reacts poorly to the death of Ser Hugh of the Vale she has to escort her back to the Red Keep. After Petyr Baelish approaches Sansa, it is Mordane who reveals his identity. She later sits with Sansa during that night's feast, where she laughs at Moon Boy's song about the High Septon, and gets so drunk that she falls asleep.
