Lothar Frey, also known as Lame Lothar. is the twelfth son of Lord Walder Frey and serves as the steward of the Twins.
Appearance and Character[]
Lothar is plump, with close-set eyes, a pointed beard, and dark hair in ringlets to his shoulders. He is intelligent, cunning and well-spoken. His nickname derives from a leg twisted at birth.

A Storm of Swords[]
Lothar is sent by his father to Riverrun with Walder Rivers to negotiate compensation for House Frey after Robb Stark married Jeyne Westerling instead of his promised Frey bride. He helps arrange the marriage between Lord Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey, and serves as a boat carrier at Lord Hoster Tully's funeral. It is Lothar that informs Robb of the Sack of Winterfell.
Lothar is involved in the wedding of Edmure and Roslin, and acts politely towards Robb and his mother, Catelyn Stark. He is, however, one of the leading conspirators in the Red Wedding, and it was his idea to have The Rains of Castamere prompt the bloodbath. Merrett Frey believes Lothar to be more dangerous than most of the Freys.
