A Song of Ice and Fire Wiki

Lady Larra Rogare was a member of House Rogare of Lys. She was the wife of Viserys II Targaryen and mother of their three children: Aegon IV, Aemon and Naerys Targaryen. She eventually abandoned her husband and returned to Lys.

Appearance and Character[]

Larra was considered a great beauty. She had pale skin, and the silver-gold hair and purple eyes of Valyria. She was tall and willowy. She only dressed in Lysene fashion, even during her time in King's Landing.

Larra was fluent in High Valyrian and the dialects of Lys, Myr, Tyrosh, and Old Volantis, but not the Common Tongue. She worshiped several Lysene deities, including Pantera, Yndros of the Twilight, Bakkalon, and Saagael.

History[]

Larra was born in 115 AC, the youngest daughter of Lysandro Rogare, the head of the wealthy and influential banking family in Lys. When Lysandro came into the possession of the captive Prince Viserys Targaryen, he quickly married him to his daughter Larra, despite her being seven years his senior. Not long thereafter, Larra's uncle, Drazenko Rogare, approached Lord Alyn Velaryon at Sunspear, informing him where Viserys could be found. Lysandro Rogare's ransom terms included that Velaryon had to swear upon his honor that Larra's marriage to Viserys would not be set aide, for whatever reason. When Velaryon agreed to Lysandro's terms, he brought Viserys back to King's Landing in 134 AC. Larra accompanied him, with three of her brothers, Moredo, Lotho, and Roggerio.

King Aegon III Targaryen, his court, and the city celebrated Prince Viserys's return, as he had been believed dead for five years. The king's brother's "revival", along with the fact that Larra was of childbearing age, helped resolve the question of succession to the Iron Throne, open since the end of the Dance of the Dragons, and particularly since King Aegon III had married the young Daenaera Velaryon. The king's regents quickly confirmed the legitimacy of Larra's marriage to Viserys. Viserys also confided to Grand Maester Munkun that he had consummated his marriage.

Larra moved into the Red Keep with her husband, but did not manage to adapt to the customs of the Seven Kingdoms. All her clothing came from Lys, even her smallclothes; Rogare ships delivered the latest Lysene fashions to her three times a year. She made no attempt to learn the Common Tongue, and instead used translators. She kept only Lysene servants, and even her protectors were Lysene, under the command of her brother Moredo and Sandoq the Shadow. Larra also had no interest in the Faith of the Seven or the Old Gods of the North, but continued to worship Lysene gods, to whom she did obeisances.
