House Cerwyn is a noble house in The North. Their seat is at Castle Cerwyn. Their sigil is a black battle-axe upon a silver field. Their house words are Honed and Ready. The head of the house at the start of the novels was Lord Medger Cerwyn.

Lord Cerwyn was said to be a close companion of Lord Cregan Stark, fighting beside him during the Dance of the Dragons. Lord Cerwyn was present within King's Landing during the Hour of the Wolf.
Lord Robard Cerwyn was married to Aregelle Stark, Cregan's granddaughter. They had children together.

A Game of Thrones[]
Bran Stark spots the banner of House Cerwyn at Winterfell after Robb Stark calls his banners. Whilst camped there, a Cerwyn man is stabbed by a man of House Bolton at the Smoking Log in the winter town.Lord Medger Cerwyn brings his daughter Jonelle with him to Winterfell, to cook for him and accompany him on the march to Moat Cailin, though Theon Greyjoy suspects that Medger wishes for Jonelle to enter Robb's bed. Lord Jon Umber threatens to take his levies and return to Last Hearth if he has to march behind men of House Cerwyn or House Hornwood.
When Robb's army splits at The Twins, Medger travels upon the eastern side of the Trident in the army commanded by Roose Bolton. He is present for the Battle on the Green Fork, where he is wounded and captured by Lannister forces.
A Clash of Kings[]
Cley Cerwyn comes to Winterfell with two dozen lances for the harvest feast, where he dances with Beth Cassel. A Cerwyn knight ridicules King Joffrey I Baratheon by referring to him as Joffrey the Illborn.
Whilst serving as Hand of the King, Tyrion Lannister offers to exchange Lord Medger and Ser Donnel Locke for his cousin, Tion Frey, asserting that one Lannister is worth the life of two Northmen.
Whilst at Harrenhal, Arya Stark hears that Lord Medger is being treated in a tower cell. Arya intends to sneak by the guards and reveal her identity to him, but he succumbs to his wounds before she has the chance. Arya later sees three silent sisters taking away a body covered in a silver shroud, emblazoned with a black battle-axe. She also sees Cerwyn men during the Fall of Harrenhal.
Now head of his house, Cley Cerwyn brings three hundred men to join Ser Rodrik Cassel in ridding the Ironborn from the Stony Shore and Torrhen's Square. Rodrik stops at Castle Cerwyn on his way back to Winterfell. Cley is sent to the walls of Winterfell under a peace banner, announcing to Theon that Rodrik wishes to parley. Cley is killed during the Battle at Winterfell, after the betrayal of Ramsay Snow. His corpse is later presented to Theon, an arrow through his eye.
Osha considers taking Bran and Rickon Stark to the Cerwyns, but maester Luwin informs her that Cley has been slain.
A Storm of Swords[]
After crossing the Ruby Ford, Roose Bolton leaves behind six hundred men to guard the crossing, many of them being Cerwyn men, under the command of Ser Kyle Condon, who had been Medger's right hand man. It is unknown what happened to these men after the Red Wedding.
A Feast for Crows[]
Brienne of Tarth sees the badge of House Cerwyn amongst those that have been collected from the dead after the Battle at Duskendale.
A Dance with Dragons[]
Jonelle Cerwyn, now head of the house, declares fealty to the new Warden of the North, Roose Bolton, and the Cerwyns contribute troops towards Ramsay Bolton's siege at Moat Cailin. The Cerwyn banner is present when Roose gathers men at Barrow Hall in Barrowton, and Cerwyn men are present for the marriage of 'Arya Stark'. Roose Bolton is still suspicious of the loyalty of House Cerwyn, however.
Some Cerwyn men rally to the banners of King Stannis Baratheon.
