Hodor, born Walder, is a dimwitted stableboy who works for House Stark. He is the great-grandson of Old Nan. He can only say one word: Hodor.
Appearance and Character[]
Hodor is seven feet tall with brown hair, brown eyes and a brown beard. Osha believes that he could have giant's blood in him. He is only capable of saying one word, Hodor.

A Game of Thrones[]
Hallis Mollen speculates that Hodor may have spotted the Catspaw hiding in the stables, but was unable to report him due to his simpleness. Bran Stark later sees Hodor carrying a new anvil to Mikken during his comatose dream. After Tyrion Lannister returns to Winterfell, Maester Luwin has Hodor carry Bran down to the Great Hall.
A Clash of Kings[]
After Theon Greyjoy takes Winterfell, Hodor hides in the crypts with Osha, Bran, Rickon, and the Reed children. The group splits up and Hodor goes with Bran, and the Reed siblings; Jojen and Meera, toward the Wall.
A Storm of Swords[]
The group reaches the Wall and meets Coldhands.
A Dance with Dragons[]
They are attacked by wights. They escape and go into a cave. Bran wargs into Hodor to travel into the cave.
