Goldengrove is the ancestral seat of House Rowan. The current Lord of Goldengrove is Mathis Rowan.

Location[]

Goldengrove is located in the northern part of the Reach, to the east of Red Lake. It is situated upon a river, the flows from the hills near Silverhill south to Highgarden.

History[]

During the War of Conquest, the armies of the two kings, Loren I Lannister and Mern IX Gardener, gathered together at Goldengrove, before marching against the armies of Aegon I Targaryen.

During the Dance of the Dragons, the Rowans surrendered Goldengrove to the Greens host, commanded by Ormund Hightower, out of fear that Prince Daeron Targaryen would burn their seat with his dragon, Tessarion.

Lord Thaddeus Rowan died during his journey back to Goldengrove in 135 AC.

In 136 AC, King Aegon III Targaryen cancelled royal progress, planned to celebrate his coming of age. One of the castles he had been intended to visit was Goldengrove.
