Ser Franklyn Flowers, also known as the Bastard of Cider Hall, is an anointed knight in service to the Golden Company.

Appearance[]

He is a big-bellied, shambling hulk of a man, and his face is seamed with many old scars. His left ear is missing, and his right looks as if a dog has chewed it up.

History[]

Franklyn claims that his mother was a washerwoman in service at Cider Hall, where she was raped by one of the lord's sons. He has served in the Golden Company for at least twelve years, as he was a member at the same time as Jon Connington. He has been knighted since Jon left.

Franklyn is present for Jon's meeting with the leading members of the Golden Company near Volon Therys. Franklyn suggests that they take the land route to meet Daenerys Targaryen in Meereen, but Harry Strickland claims that the Demon Road would mean death. He quickly swears allegiance to Aegon Targaryen when he suggests that they just sail west for Westeros, and not meet with Daenerys.

Once in Westeros, Franklyn takes part in the Taking of Griffin's Roost, where he uses the treeline as cover to transport a battering ram to the gates. They find them closed, but not barred, and they are broken after the second swing. Jon later tells him to make sure that no messages are sent, and so the maester is thrown from his tower.

Flowers later sits at the high table of Griffin's Roost, along with Jon, Strickland, Black Balaq, and the three Conningtons that they have taken prisoner. He is also present for the war council that Jon holds whilst at Griffin's Roost. Flowers then sends a rider back to camp to summon Aegon to Griffin's Roost.
