Arys Oakheart is an anointed knighs of House Oakheart and a sworn brother of the Kingsguard, initially under King Robert Baratheon, but then also for Joffrey I Baratheon and Tommen I Baratheon.

A Game of Thrones[]
Arys and his fellow sworn brothers of the Kingsguard, all ride in the Hand's Tourney, though none of them reach the final four. It is unknown who unhorsed Arys. He later stands by King Robert during the confrontation between Ser Gregor and Sandor Clegane. Varys has deep suspicions about where his loyalties lie.
A Clash of Kings[]
Arys comes to collect Sansa on the morning of King Joffrey's thirteenth name-day, to bring her to the tourney. Sansa notes that whilst Arys does beat her on Joffrey's commands, he is the only knight of the Kingsguard to object. He believes that he will be champion of the tourney, though that there will not be much honour gained due to the weakness of the field of combatants.
A Feast for Crows[]
Arys is present at Sunspear when Prince Doran Martell and Areo Hotah arrive from the Water Gardens. He swelters under the heat of Dorne.
