King Argilac Durrandon, also known Argilac the Arrogant, was a Storm King who was slain by Orys Baratheon at the Last Storm. His daughter Argella briefly ruled after him before being overthrown by her own men, then marrying Lord Orys.

Early Life[]

Years before the War of the Conquest, King Argilac Durrandon was very concerned about House Hoare's control over the Riverlands. The ruler of Riverlands, King Harren Hoare, commissioned the contruction of a great castle, then known as Harren's Hall, which was nearing in completion. Argilac fearerd that after Harren's castle was complete, Harren would soon spread his kingdom in conquest towards the Stormlands. Argilac, afraid of Harren, proposed an alliance with Aegon. Argilac had prosumably want a buffer zone between Harren's kingdom and his own, with Aegon being in the middle between the two kingdoms. The alliance with Aegon included a marriage with his daughter Argella, but was reject by Aegon himself, who instead offer his bastard half-brother Orys Baratheon. Argilac took it has insult, had the hands of Aegon's envoy cut off and sent back to Aegon, carrying a message saying "These are the only hands that you will recieve."

The Conquest[]

The Last Storm[]

After Aegon's success at Harrenhal, Argilac, hearing of Harren the Black's demise of being roasted in his castle, vowed not to die roasted in his castle like Harren. Argilac instead led his army against Orys Baratheon and Rhaenys Targaryen (who was sent by Aegon to capture Storm's End) in open field. Orys however slew Argilac in single combat, thus crushing Argilac's army's spirits. Argilac's daughter, Argella, continued to call herself the Storm Queen of Storm's End, defying Orys and the Targaryen host out side of Storm`s End. But she was soon betrayed by her father's men after they heard of Harren's death. They were not eager to die roasted in the castle, so they presented Argella chained and naked to Orys.

Legacy[]

Argilac was the last Storm King of his house to ever rule the Storm Lands and was the end of his line. His death would later ligitimize Orys Baratheon and House Baratheon. Orys later married his only daughter Agrella and thus gained control over Storm`s End. Agrella was treated gently by Orys who removed her chains and gave her clothing and wine. Orys later took Argilac's words, arms and words of House Durrandon for himself. Argilac is not remembered fondly at all by Westeros, seen as a barbarian and a tyrant only surpassed by Harren the Black.
