House Stokeworth is a noble house from the Crownlands. They are sworn to King's Landing, and make their seat at Castle Stokeworth. Their sigil is a white lamb holding a golden goblet on a green field. Their house words are "Proud to be Faithful".

History[]

During the War of Conquest, Castle Stokeworth surrendered to Visenya Targaryen after Vhagar set fire to the castle's roofs.

Lord Alyn Stokeworth was named Hand of the King to Aegon I Targaryen in 34 AC, succeeding Ser Osmund Strong. In 35 AC, when Aegon ordered the Aegonfort torn down and the Red Keep built in its stead, he trusted the task to Alyn and Visenya. Alyn continued to serve as Hand for Aenys I Targaryen, and led a force into the Riverlands to hunt down Harren the Red, but he was slain by the rebel. Alyn was avenged by his squire, Bernarr Brune.

When the realm began to turn against King Maegor I Targaryen in favour of his nephew, Jaehaerys, Lord Stokeworth was one of the few lords to gather at his command. However, after Maegor's mysterious death upon the Iron Throne, Lord Stokeworth fled back to his seat. When King Jaehaerys resided upon Dragonstone, Lord Stokeworth was amongst the lords to make visits to him. In 51 AC, Jaehaerys began his first royal procession with a visit to Castle Stokeworth.

Alyn's daughter, Samantha Stokeworth, was a constant companion of Princess Rhaena Targaryen, and she attended Rhaena's wedding to Androw Farman in 49 AC. However, in 54 AC, Sam was amongst the women poisoned on Dragonstone by a jealous Androw.

When the Dance of the Dragons began, Lord Stokeworth was one of the blacks at court in the Red Keep who was arrested for his continued loyalty to Rhaenyra Targaryen instead of Aegon II Targaryen. When brought before the King's Justice, however, Stokeworth was amongst the few lords who recanted and swore oaths to Aegon. Ser Criston Cole later marched his army to Castle Stokeworth, demanding that they add their force to his as a sign of their loyalty. After the fall of King's Landing to Rhaenyra, Lord Stokeworth again tried to swear fealty to Rhaenyra, but she had him beheaded for his disloyalty.

Prince Daemon Targaryen suggests having Lord Stokeworth's young daughter inherit over his younger son, suggesting that they marry her to Ulf White, as reward for his loyalty. However, Rhaenyra took Lord Corlys Velaryon's counsel, having Stokeworth's son inherit. When Rhaenyra fled King's Landing after the Storming of the Dragonpit, young Lord Stokeworth's castellan allows her to spend a night. When Aegon II retook the throne, he had young lord Stokeworth brought to him in chains, demanding obeisance, and only freed him after taking hostages and a ransom. Levies from Stokeworth, Rosby, Hayford abandoned Lord Borros Baratheon during the Battle of the Kingsroad. Young Lord Stokeworth later declared for King Aegon III Targaryen.

At the age of eight, Falena Stokeworth was considered as a match for Aegon III after the death of Queen Jaehaera Targaryen. Before the Maiden's Day Cattle Show, however, Falena fell down the stairs and broke her leg. In 149 AC, Falena became the first mistress of Aegon Targaryen. When she was found abed with Aegon, she was married to Ser Lucas Lothston, who was subsequently named as the Lord of Harrenhal. Aegon is noted to have made many trips to Harrenhal for the following two years.

After the death of King Baelor I Targaryen, Lady Maia Stokeworth suggested that his uncle, King Viserys II Targaryen, had poisoned him to claim the throne.

In 193 AC, Lord Stokeworth was overthrown in a melee at King's Landing by Ser Arlan of Pennytree. In 209 AC, Ser Samwell Stokeworth participated in the Tourney at Ashford Meadow. When Lord Brynden Rivers marched on Whitewalls to quash the Second Blackfyre Rebellion, men from House Stokeworth marched in his force.

Manly Stokeworth served as Commander of the City Watch of King's Landing. He was replaced by Janos Slynt.

A Game of Thrones[]

Lord Petyr Baelish is often asked to dine with Lady Tanda Stokeworth and her daughters, Falyse and Lollys. Littlefinger thinks that she hopes to marry him to Lollys. Baelish considers Tanda as a potential ally for Lord Eddard Stark to depose the Lannisters from power after the death of King Robert I Baratheon.

A Clash of Kings[]

From the time Tyrion Lannister arrives in King's Landing, Tanda invites him to several banquets, hoping to arrange a marriage between him and Lollys. During the Riot of King's Landing the day Myrcella Baratheon departs for Dorne, Lollys is knocked from her saddle and left behind. She is later found walking naked, having been raped by half-a-hundred men, and being left pregnant.

Falyse Stokeworth arrives the day before the Battle of the Blackwater with a small troop of men from Stokeworth. The Stokeworths spend the battle in Maegor's Holdfast.

A Storm of Swords[]

Lady Tanda offers Lollys to Tywin Lannister as a potential marriage for Tyrion. Tanda gives a pair of leather boots to King Joffrey I Baratheon as a wedding present. Tanda flees from the Red Keep after Joffrey chokes to death at the wedding.

After being knighted, Ser Bronn agrees to marry Lollys.

A Feast for Crows[]

After Falyse's request to name Lollys' bastard Tywin is rejected by Cersei Lannister, Bronn instead decides to name him Tyrion, which is seen by many as an act of defiance against House Lannister. Falyse believes that should Lord Gyles Rosby die, then Rosby should pass to House Stokeworth, as Lady Tanda was an aunt to Gyles' second wife, and is a third cousin herself.

Lady Tanda breaks her hip after falling from her horse. Believing Bronn to be conspiring with her brother Tyrion, Cersei determines to eliminate him, recruiting Falyse and her husband, Ser Balman Byrch, to do so. Things go awry, however, when Bronn unchivalrously murders Balman during a duel, and banishes Falyse from the castle, styling himself as the Lord of Stokeworth. Falyse runs to Cersei, begging for her aid to reclaim Stokeworth, however Cersei refuses, and instead turns Falyse over to Qyburn for use in his experiments, fearing that the plot's discovery could undermine her position. When Tanda dies of a chill, Lollys succeeds her mother and sister as the Lady of Stokeworth, with Bronn serving as her Lord.

A Dance with Dragons[]

Falyse has died screaming in the black cells, a victim of Qyburn's experimentations.
